Missouri’s Murry Dickson

Tracy, Missouri’s, Murry Monroe Dickson (August 21, 1916 — September 21, 1989) made his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1939 and completed his career with The Kansas City Athletics in 1959. Between these two cities were stints with the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, a second stop in St. Louis, and the New York Yankees.  Compiling a 172 -181 record, the right hander was a 1953 All Star selection of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1946, Dickson led the National League in winning percentage (.714).  He played in the 1943 World Series as a Cardinal and was a two-time World Series Champion; in 1946 with the Cardinals and in 1958 with the Yankees.

In September, the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame was the grateful benefactor of Mr. Dickson's personal memorabilia collection, much of which is now on display at the Hall of Fame.  A special thank you to Donna Dickson, Murry's daughter, for her generous contribution.
